PORTPATRICK
Welcome to Tartan Escapes, your 5-star luxury home from home, located on the west coast of the Rhins of Galloway in the stunningly beautiful village of Portpatrick.
Portpatrick is a popular holiday village within the historic county of Wigtownshire. The picturesque harbour is the focal point of the village, with views, on a clear day, out to Ireland and the Mourne Mountains and Belfast.
In years gone by, young couples would come over the water to Portpatrick from Northern Ireland to be married just like the young English couples who eloped to Gretna Green all those years ago.
WALKING
The Southern Upland Way starts here and continues for 212 miles, all the way to the east coast.

SEA ANGLING
There are a number of sea angling charter companies in Portpatrick who will take you off the coast to Northern Ireland or the Isle of Man, wherever the fish may be, where you can catch common skate or shark. These trips are normally all inclusive of tackle and bait.
DUNSKEY CASTLE
Built in 1900, Dunskey is a historically listed Edwardian castle. Superbly maintained since its construction, it retains many of its original features including some of the original furniture. From luxurious interiors to breathtaking grounds, our property offers every personality a space that suits their wants and needs.
KITCHEN COOS AND EWES
For big kids, little kids and foodies, it’s a must to do a tour of the Kitchen Coos and Ewes
Fabulous tour, very interesting and informative. Neale and Janet are amazing hosts. The food, home-baked by Janet is delicious, Neale does a brilliant sheep shearing demo and this trip is very reasonably priced.
THE COCOA BEAN COMPANY
The Cocoa Bean Company is another brilliant trip out for all the family. A good chance to roll up your sleeves and create something scrumptious.
KILLANTRINGHAM LIGHTHOUSE
Killantringham Lighthouse is a short drive or a lovely, but slightly longer walk from Tartan Escapes. Absolutely worth it when you see the beach at low tide. Well worth a day trip with a picnic.

CORSEWALL LIGHTHOUSE
Corsewall Lighthouse is a lovely drive and the café is really good. Spectacular views and (Covid permitting) the history of the lighthouse is fascinating. Make sure you visit the engine room.
SANDHEAD BEACH
Beautiful. Take a picnic. Lovely little park and picnic tables dotted about.
PORT LOGAN BEACH
Wonderful for a refreshing dip then a coffee or ice cream from the snack van after.
